The Plan V Program

Plan V is a vegetarian food co-op chartered by the Duke Student Government (DSG) for the purpose of providing vegetarian meals in a cooperative atmosphere. Dining Services supports the Plan V Program by allowing students to use their Dining Plan Points Accounts to pay for Plan V meals.

Plan V participants must donate their time to prepare food and/or clean up in addition to paying for the meals at a rate set and budgeted by the group. Participants who work two hours per week are eligible to use Dining Plan Points for payment.

How does it work?

At Plan V meals, students sign a list authorizing Plan V to take Dining or FLEX Points out of their account. On a monthly basis, Plan V submits to Dining Services a certified list of students who have met the work requirement and participated in the Plan V group meals. The requests for reimbursement to Plan V from participants' Dining or FLEX Accounts are processed by Dining Services and the DukeCard Office, and Points are transferred from students’ accounts to the Plan V Account.
